Splicing fiber cable is surely not like splicing metal cables together. It is a very specific procedure best accomplished using fusion splicers. The fusion splicers connect two fiber optic cables together by fusing or melting them.  To lessen possible signal loss or optical loss, optical fibers should be joined together perfectly. Here is how the procedure works. The fiber cable ends are first fastened into an enclosure within the splicer to protect them during the fusion procedure. Then the ends are stripped of their coating. If an outer jacket is present, it is also stripped. The next step involves a tool known as fiber cleaver. A fiber cleaver is used to cut the fibers in such a way that leaves the end of the cables flat and smooth. If the ends are not flat, then splicing will not happen perfectly.
